THE EXPERIENCE

TRK 02 · LUSOPHONE™

What Coala feels like

  • Three continents, one language
  • Open air, at sunset
  • Lusophone flavours and sounds

As the afternoon fades, the Hipódromo Manuel Possolo fills with people and accents. Portuguese is heard on every side — from Brazil, Portugal and Africa — and for a few hours the Atlantic stops being a distance.

It's the grass underfoot, a caipirinha in hand, the smell of food and the sun setting over Cascais. It's dancing beside someone you've just met and singing, in chorus, words you know by heart.

Two days where longing is cured by music and three continents share one stage. This is Coala — and this is why people come back.

THE FESTIVAL

Music in Portuguese, on one stage

Coala was born in São Paulo in 2014 with a simple idea: to put on the same stage the Brazilian music that doesn't fit in genres — from samba to MPB, from rap to electronic.

In 2024 it crossed the Atlantic and settled in Cascais. Curated by Gabriel Andrade and Kalaf Epalanga, it draws a triangle between Brazil, Portugal and Africa.

At Hipódromo Manuel Possolo, in a park in Cascais, Coala is the first big festival of the European summer.
